The Phil G. McDonald Memorial Bridge, also known as the Glade Creek Bridge, in Beckley, West Virginia, is the highest bridge on the United States Interstate Highway System, and one of the highest in the world.[2] towers 700 feet (210 m) above the creek bed,[3][4] It is located approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) upstream of the mouth of Glade Creek. The completion of the bridge was the final part of Interstate 64 to be built in West Virginia; Governor Arch Moore opened the bridge at a gala ribbon-cutting ceremony on 15 July 1988.[1]
