Danny Nichols being interviewed after winning the 2015 NPGL MVP award
The Phoenix Rise are a team in the National Pro Grid League (NPGL) formed in 2014,[1] and played their first home matches in the Jobing Arena.[2][3] They are owned and managed by James "OPT" Fitzgerald, the winner of the first CrossFit Games in 2007[4] and features the 2015 NPGL MVP winner, Danny Nichols.[5][6]
2015 Season
The Rise had their best performance in the 2015 season having a decisive 23-12 victory over their Western Conference rival the San Francisco Fire[7] in the semi-finals, but losing in the finals match to the DC Brawlers.[8][9] Despite the loss in the finals to the undefeated DC Brawlers, Phoenix Rise closer Danny Nichols was still named the NPGL League MVP for 2015.[10]
