Phrynobatrachus hylaios is a species of frog in the Petropedetidae family. It is found in Cameroon, Republic of the Congo, possibly Angola, possibly Central African Republic, possibly Equatorial Guinea, possibly Gabon, and possibly Nigeria. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical swamps, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, rivers, swamps, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marshes, rural gardens, heavily degraded former forest, and canals and ditches.
