PictureStart Film Festival

The PictureStart Film Festival, or PictureStart Awards, is a film festival to showcase short films in New York City. It was started in 2002 by Gregory Segal as the NYC Home Film Festival. The 12th PictureStart Film Festival was held on June 2 and June 3, 2008.[1]

Festival

The PictureStart Film Festival is intended to showcase short films, regulated as being less than 35 minutes. The festival accepts submissions from all filmmakers and in all film genres at any time. Some prior participants include Joe Lipari, Wolfgang Petersen, David Koepp and John Badham.[2]

The films are chosen for viewing based on "artist excellence", with some festival awards granted based on viewers' choices and others based on the votes of a judging panel.[1]
