Pilipinas Kong Mahal

Pilipinas Kong Mahal (English: My Beloved Philippines) is one of the most popular patriotic songs in the Philippines, others being Bayan Ko ("My Country") and Magkaisa ("Unite"). In the Philippines, patriotic songs are often sung by people at political rallies, protests and demonstrations. These are also performed in plays and patriotic song or dance numbers, especially in schools during Araw ng Kasarinlán (Independence Day) celebrations in June and Buwan ng Wikà (Language Month) in August. The song was composed by Filipino musician, Francisco Santiago and lyrics by Ildefonso Santos.

This specific song is usually sung during flag retreat.

Lyrics

Original Filipino lyrics

Ang bayan ko'y tanging ikaw,
Pilipinas kong mahal.
Ang puso ko at buhay man,
sa iyo'y ibibigay.
Tungkulin ko'y gagampanan,
na lagi kang paglingkuran.
Ang laya mo'y babantayan,
Pilipinas kong mahal.

Bayan sa silanga'y hiyas,
Pilipinas kong mahal.
Kami'y iyo hanggang wakas,
Pilipinas kong mahal.
Mga nuno naming lahat,
Sa iyo'y naglingkod ng tapat.
Ligaya mo'y aming hangad,
Pilipinas kong hirang.

English translation

My country you're only,
Philippines, my beloved
My heart and even life,
to you I shall give.
My duty I shall fulfill,
to always thee serve, [and]
freedom thine, to guard,
Philippines, my chosen.

Pearl of the orient nation,
Philippines, my beloved.
We are yours until the end,
Philippines, my beloved.
From our ancestors,
who obediently served you.
Your happiness is our desire,
Philippines my chosen.

Part II (lyrics)

Bayan sa Silanga'y hiyas
Pilipinas kong mahal
Kami'y iyo hanggang wakas
Pilipinas kong mahal.
Mga nuno naming lahat
Sa iyo'y naglingkod ng tapat
Ligaya mo'y aming hangad
Pilipinas kong hirang.
