An aircraft flight manual is a book containing the information required to operate the aircraft. A typical flight manual will contain the following: limitations, operating procedures, performance.
AFM contains:
- V speeds

- Operating empty weight
- Center of gravity of an aircraft
- Lift-to-drag ratio
- Zero-fuel weight
A typical AFM is a Pilot's Operating Handbook which became the standard format for an AFM after 1978. An Aircraft Flight Manual is Serial Number Specific; whereas a Pilot's Operating Handbook is merely Model Specific.
