History
Tirmizi or Tirmidhi or Termezi (Persian: ترمذی is a surname in Middle East, Central Asia and South Asia. It is used by Syed’s who are mostly settled in northern-regions of Pakistan. As their forefathers migrated to Pakistan at that time India from Qilla-e-Termez was located in Greater Khorasan (As per the Islamic history written by Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti R.A in Umayyad Caliphate almost 10,000 plus Arab’s families move their children to take shelter in Qal`eh-ye-Termez due to un-human behavior of that time Kings and Qilla-e-Termez was consider as undefeatable place). From the 5th to the 12th centuries Termez was a big city and a cultural centre and was popular for shopping and crafts. This city was destroyed by the troops of Genghis Khan in 12th century, in the second half of the 13th century Termez was restored to the east now in Uzbekistan; hence they use the surname of Tirmizi.
