Plamen Markov (Bulgarian: Пламен Марков; born 11 September 1957 in Sevlievo) is a retired Bulgarian international footballer who played as a midfielder.[1]
He played for the Bulgaria national football team on 32 occasions,[1] including a match in the 1986 World Cup against Argentina.[2]
His club career was spent with CSKA Sofia (1975–1985), FC Metz (1985–1987) and Grenoble Foot (1987–1990).[1]
His first coaching job came with Grenoble, and he was later in charge at his former club, CSKA Sofia, but he was sacked in 1995.[3]
In 2001 he was appointed as coach of the Bulgaria national football team.[3] He stepped down as coach of Bulgaria after the Euro 2004 tournament.[4]
He was reappointed as Bulgaria coach in January 2008,[5] but was sacked in December 2008 following three draws in their 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.[6]
