Plasmodium aegyptensis is a parasite of the genus Plasmodium subgenus Vinckeia.

Like all Plasmodium species it has vertebrate and insect hosts. The vertebrate host is the Egyptian grass rat (Arvicanthis niloticus). The insect vector(s) for this species is not yet known.

Description

This species was first described in 1975 by Abd-el-Aziz et al.[1]

This species occurs in Egypt.
