Weekends

The weekends normally host a selection of specialised programs, many of which focus on specific music genres - such as rock music from the 60's to the current day on Lets Rock, 90's dance tracks on Saturday Funhouse/Funhouse Radio, an all Beatles show titled From Us To You, nostalgic top 40 tracks from past decades on Those Were The Days, 60's retro classics on Wired For Sound, and blues & roots on The Whipping Post. There is also an Indigenous Australian program called Deadly Sounds which airs at 10am on a Sunday. These shows normally alternate between Saturday and Sunday for summer and winter.

The Heat Is On is one of PVFM's longer running variety weekend programs, and is broadcast on a Saturday night at 6pm hosted by Rob Puglielli.

Saturday

Saturday is traditionally Plenty Valley FM's sports day, with a number of programs throughout the day covering a variety of sports from local to international level. During the winter months, programs include The Modern Sports Show, Winners Aplenty Big Sports Breakfast Show, Behind The Wheel and Boys Are Back In Town. Throughout the summer, the NMCA and DVCA Cricket Shows feature in the morning, with Not The Plenty Valley FM Sports Show and Sports Addiction following up in the late morning and early afternoon.

Sunday

Sunday usually features lifestyle and pop culture programs, such as Valley Lifestyles which covers local events, gardening, and food & wine. Other programs include the Christianity show God's Not Dead, the movie review and news program The Reel Thing, and Almost Famous which seeks to unearth new, young Australian musicians.

Overnight Music

At midnight and weekday mornings, 88.6 Plenty Valley FM broadcasts it's real music variety, Plenty Valley FM Overnight and Mornings, during the day and overnight.

Northern Football League

Plenty Valley FM broadcasts the Northern Football League Match of the Day each Saturday during the winter football season from 13:00 through until 17:00 hours (1 to 5 pm in the afternoons). The broadcast leads in with an hour-long preview show covering the days upcoming fixtures across all three senior divisions of the NFL, before the commentary team commence the broadcast for the chosen match of that weekend.

The commentary team provide 'Around the Ground' score updates throughout the afternoon to keep the listeners up to date with other concurrent matches, similar to BBC Radio 5 Live's broadcasts of the English Premier League.

The NFL Match of the Day broadcasts are one of PVFM's biggest listener drawcards, attracting large audiences through the winter months given it is the sole radio station to cover the NFL (the northern suburbs largest football league).
