PocketPlug
The PocketPlug is an accessory that allows an iPhone in the United States to be charged without a cable.[1]
History
The PocketPlug was launched on Kickstarter in March 2012, which raised 130,000 dollars.[2] This led to the device being sold in Brookstone and Staples.
Features
The PocketPlug phone case features an integrated A/C charging plug which allows users to plug their phones directly into an outlet to charge their phone, removing the requirement for a charger. The case itself is manufactured with a soft-plastic rubber and features a sound funnelling design in order to enhance sound volume and quality.[1] While the case has received praise for the simplicity of the idea, critics have felt that the phone was lacking an external battery.[3]
Prong, the manufacturers of the PocketPlug have developed a further accessory, the PWR case, which featured an external battery. The case will be rolled out at Best Buy starting in summer 2014.[4] CNET reviewed the case and felt that for "tired of dealing with wall warts, charging cables, and, especially, dead batteries, this might be just the case you need."
