Pollyanna Chu
Pollyanna Chu (Chu Yuet Wah; Chinese: 朱李月華) is a businesswoman from Hong Kong. In 2012, she was listed as Hong Kong's 32nd richest person, with an estimated net worth of $1.23 billion.[1] As of January 2013, Chu's estimated worth was $1.4 billion, making her the 35th richest person in Hong Kong.[2]
Personal life and education
Pollyanna Chu moved to the United States at the age of 18. She married her husband, Nicholas[3] who she had met in San Francisco.[4] They became real estate investors and moved to Hong Kong in 1992.[3] Chu received her Bachelor of Arts and her Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University.[2] She has one child called Kingston.[1]
Career
The couple founded Kingston Financial after moving to Hong Kong in 1992. Chu served as Managing Director,[3] but they co-ran Kingston Financial with her husband.[1] In 1997 she was "fined...for working as an unregistered dealer." Chu was accused of market manipulation in 2003 by the Securities and Futures Commission.[5] In 2005 she became general manager of the Gold Group.[3] She was also the Chief Executive Officer of the Golden Resorts Group, Inc.[3] As of 2011, Chu owned a 70% stake in Birmingham International Holdings.[5] In 2012, she bought a stake in Sincere Fine Watches.[2] In July, 2012, she was named Chairwoman of Franck Muller's Asia-Pacific operations.[6]
Awards
Chu was given the "Outstanding Chinese Prize" in 2008.[3] In 2012, Forbes Asia listed her as one of their "Women In The Mix".[7]
