Pooja Sharma is an Indian television actress born and brought up in Mumbai. She made her debut in StarPlus show Ruk Jaana Nahin as Sanchi Mathur, the female protagonist with Aniruddh Dave as Indu Singh, the male protagonist.

Family Background and Early Life

Pooja Sharma was born to Suresh Sharma and Sadhana Sharma of Lokhandwala, Mumbai. They are only two siblings. She has only one younger sister, Megha Sharma who is also a TV actress.[1] Her father met a car accident and expired on 31 May 2013.[2] Her mother is a housewife.

Career

Pooja Sharma completed her B.Com. and joined a corporate firm. She was working in the HR department for two and a half years. She never considered acting as a career option. One day, accidentally she met one TV show coordinator and he insisted her to join TV industry as an actor. In a chat with "The Hindu" she said "The transition phase was a little difficult. Because being from a non-acting background I had to under go hard training. The overall journey has been very nice, people supported me a lot.". The news paper commented as "With no background in acting, it is still early days for Pooja in an industry which launches a new face every few months but she assures that she is in for a long innings." and also termed her "A gutsy girl".[3] Thus, she came to this field and became a famed actress after doing her debut show Ruk Jaana Nahin.[4][5] She is very brave and dedicated to her work. Once she got injured while shooting a fight sequence and cut her lip. It bled a bit, but Pooja took pain killers and got first aid. Soon, she was back on the shoot. Her act of bravery won her praise from everyone on the set. The "Tribune India" described her act as "Work is her worship.".[6] She was new in this field, but performed her role above the expectation of all. The "Indian Express" described about her acting talent as "She is raw but has an endearing quality.".[7] In a chat with "Zee News" she expressed her opinion about Indian family-based show and bold scene as "It's not right to showcase bold scenes in family-based TV dramas.".[8] She had been nominated for STAR Parivaar Award 2012 in two categories (1) Favourite Beti and (2) Favourite Naya Sadasya (Female) for her role as Sanchi/Saanchi in Ruk Jaana Nahin.[9][10]

She was also seen in StarPlus show Tu Mera Hero as Vaishali Mukund Agarwal, the female antagonist.[11] In a chat with "Bollywooddhamaka" she said about her antagonist role as “Essaying a negative role has its own pros and cons. I am glad that the show has given me an opportunity to explore another shade of acting.".[12]

She had also done 12 (twelve) episodics for different TV channels; latest as Shivi in Yeh Hai Aashiqui for Bindass.[13]

Marital Status

On Monday, 22nd February 2016 she weds Pushkar Pandiit, a TV show director by profession.[14][15][16]
