Poonuthura Family

The Poonuthura family originally originated from "Punarkottu Swaroopam" who were ruling the province century back. Even after the "Makkthayam", it sustains itself as Poonuthura-Pulipra kudumbayogam. Poonuthura family members have proved their talents in different fields like, Medicine, Law, Information Technology, Civil Engineering, Small scale banking, Nationalised banking, Teaching, Management, and much more.

Eminent members of the family

The origins of the Poonuthura family is the subject matter of the book " Punarkottu Swaroopam"[1] ,[2] a historical fiction, written by Sardar K.M. Panicker. The book is available for reference in the Kerala University Library and Sree Chithira Thirunal Library, both located in Thiruvananthapuram. All Poonuthura family have a "Kalari" in Thalavady which is believed to be the Temporary seat for "Lord Ayaappa" of Anaprampal during the renovation of the temple. Even today the family has several rights associated with the religious ceremonies of Anaprambal Sree Dharmasastha Temple, Thalavady, Kuttanad Taluk, Alappuzha District in Kerala.

The family members of Poonuthura are now spread across the globe.
