Poorva (born March 12, 1993), is a Bangalore based Indian swimmer. She is a international level swimmer in breaststroke.[1]

Career

Poorva Shetye won one gold and silver medal in her first international participation in South Asian Swimming Championship - 2006, Islamabad.[2] Thereafter she participated in many national tournaments and won 30 Gold, 22 Silver and 6 Bronze Medals. She has also participated in Youth Common Wealth Games - 2008 Pune, India and Third Asian Indoor Games, Hanoi in Vietnam. Poorva is a student of Jain University located in Bangalore.

Personal life

Poorva who was born to mother Kavita Kiran Shetye and father Kiran M Shetye in Mumbai shifted to Bangalore to pursue her swimming aspiration. At a young age, she was diagnosed with asthma. Under advice from doctors, she took swimming to improve her lung capacity.

Her role model is Rehan Poncha who is also a Jain University alumnus.[3]
