Pornsak Prajakwit, better known as Pornsak, is a Thai media personality and one of the most popular TV hosts in Singapore. Being effectively trilingual (English, Mandarin & Thai), he is often seen on MediaCorp TV Channel 8, MediaCorp TV Channel 5 and MediaCorp TV Channel U. He is currently managed by Left Profile.
Early life and education
Pornsak was born 1982 in Sathorn, Bangkok, Thailand to a Chinese-born father and a Thai mother. Pornsak lost his mother to cancer when he was only five years old. Shortly afterwards, his father sent him to Singapore where he studied at South View Primary School and Clementi Town Secondary School. During his early years, he reportedly suffered from a language impediment.[1] In 2004, Pornsak graduated with Bachelor of Business Management from Singapore Management University.[2] Later, Pornsak also attended Monash University, where he read for a master's in Early Childhood Education.[1] In June 2015, he obtained his bachelor's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine.
Career
After graduating from Singapore Management University (SMU), Pornsak won a competition organised by SPH radio, UFM 1003. In 2005, he joined as a full-time radio deejay. He began diversifying into the entertainment scene in 2007 as a television host,[3] after being headhunted by MediaCorp at the opening of the Li Ka Shing Library. The guest of honour for the event was Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.
Pornsak has proved to be capable of hosting many different genres of shows.[1] In 2007, he won the title of Best Newcomer at the Star Awards.[2] Subsequently, he was named "Top 10 Most Popular Artiste" and also clinched the most kelong "Rocket Award".
Pornsak is also a successful entrepreneur. He co-owns PORN'S sexy.thai.food, a Thai restaurant chain.[1] The name of the business raised many eyebrows; in Thai, porn stands for happiness.[4] Pornsak also founded an early childhood education - Fun. Learn. Share Chinese Lab.
An avid learner, Pornsak obtained the bachelor's degree in TCM from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine in June 2015.[1] Prior to this, he read for a master's in Education at Monash University.
