Porter Block is a Brooklyn-based rock band led by Peter Block that formed in 2003.[1]

Biography

Porter Block is currently signed to Engine Room Recordings, a Manhattan-based Indie label. Engine Room released their debut album Suburban Sprawl in 2006.[1] The Solitary Hotel EP came out in 2007, followed by their sophomore full-length album Off Our Shoulders, in 2008.

Porter Block has released two albums in 2009. Pueblo A-Go-Go was released early in the year, and The Gowanus Yacht Club was released in the summer.[2] On The Gowanus Yacht Club, Peter Block collaborated with a different songwriter for every song on the album.

Porter Block recorded two songs for Guilt by Association Vol. 1, a compilation released by Engine Room Recordings featuring independent artists covering well-known pop and R&B songs from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. They covered the song "Breaking Free" from High School Musical,[3] as well as George Michael/Wham's 1984 song "Careless Whisper" (released as an iTunes Store bonus track).
