Prakash Mehta (born April 22, 1959) is an Indian politician from Maharashtra and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was the President for Mumbai BJP Unit.
Currently Prakash Mehta is the State Cabinet Minister for Housing, Labour and Mining.[1][2] This is his six consecutive term as the Member of the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra.[3] Representing Ghatkopar Constituency for the past 25 years as MLA indicates strong bonding and relationship with the people of Ghatkopar. His vision for the society and humble nature has made him won the hearts of the people.[4]
Early Life and Education
Prakash Mehta belongs to Gujarati Middle class family and is originally from Una town in Saurashtra region of Gujarat. He married with Kishori Mehta and having 2sons Abhishek Mehta, Harsh Mehta.[5] Prakash Mehta was drawn to politics in his early teens and was a member of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS). During 1975-77, as a youth, he actively participated and volunteered during the National Emergency and Corruption Movement launched by Loknayak Jayprakash Narayan.[6]

- Highest number of Gardens and their beautification done in Ghatkopar by MLA Fund.
- Played an important role in making Afzalpur Committee Report to solve the problems of people leaving in old building.
- Rehabilitation of 30 to 40 slums and providing homes to more than 1 lakh people in buildings.
