Pratap Govind Rao Pawar is an Indian social worker, media personality and the managing director of Sakal, a Marathi language daily published from Pune.[1] An alumnus of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Pawar is a former president of the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), Pune, the Indian Newspaper Society and Indian Language Newspapers Association.[2] He is a member of the executive committee of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers, Paris and a UGC-nominee at the Press Council of India.[3] He also serves on the director boards of several companies[2] and is a recipient of the Punyabhushan Award.[1] The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2008, for his contributions to society.[4]
