Presidio Terrace

Presidio Terrace in San Francisco was the first of the master-planned communities built in the Western neighborhoods of San Francisco, with 36 large lots laid out and construction started in 1905, next to the newly wooded Presidio, Temple Emanu-El and the Little Sisters of the Poor^[1] Presidio Terrace originally was marketed to white residents only: "There is only one spot in San Francisco where only Caucasians are permitted to buy or lease real estate or where they may reside. That place is Presidio Terrace." (advertisement), with these restrictions later invalidated with the integration of the city's neighborhoods. Architectural styles in the area include Beaux-Arts, Mission Revival, and Tudor Revival. Many notable residents have lived in Presidio Terrace over the years, including Senator Dianne Feinstein.
