Primus Capital is a private equity firm focused on growth capital, leveraged buyout and leveraged recapitalization investments in middle-market companies. The firm invests primarily in companies in the business services, healthcare and for-profit education sectors.

The firm, which is based in Cleveland, Ohio, was founded in 1983 as Primus Ventures.[1] Primus' founders, Loyal Wilson and Bill Mulligan, worked together in the private equity group of First Chicago Corporation. The firm has raised approximately $900 million since inception across six funds. Primus completed fundraising for its sixth fund, with $275 million of investor commitments, in 2008, roughly the same size as its predecessor fund, raised in 2000.

Primus has completed dozens of investments since inception. Among the most notable companies, in which Primus has invested include: Three Eagles Communications, MetroPCS (NYSE: PCS), Athersys (NASDAQ: ATHX) and Marlin Business Services (NASDAQ: MRLN).
