Prince Wilhelm of Schaumburg-Lippe (b. 1939)
Prince Wilhelm of Schaumburg-Lippe (Wilhelm Friedrich Harald Christian Ernst August Karl Gustav zu Schaumburg-Lippe, born 19 August 1939) is the head of the Nachod branch of the princely house of Schaumburg-Lippe. Wilhelm is the son of Prince Christian Nicholas of Schaumburg-Lippe, and the great-grandson of Frederick VIII of Denmark.[1]
Marriage and issue
He married Ilona Hentschel Baronin von Gelgenheimb on 17 January 1971. They had two children:
- Prince Christian of Schaumburg-Lippe (b. 1971), m. 2009 Lena Giese
- Princess Desiree of Schaumburg-Lippe (b. 1974)
Although related to the Danish Royal Family, under Danish law he is not in line to inherit the throne as he is not a descendant of Christian X. He is, however, in line of succession to the British throne, being a descendant of George II of the United Kingdom, through his daughter Queen Louisa of Denmark and Norway.[2]
