The Princess Rooney Handicap is an American Grade II Thoroughbred horse race once run annually during the second week of July at Calder Race Course in Miami Gardens but now run at Gulfstream Park,[1] Florida, the six furlong sprint on dirt is open to fillies and mares age three-years and older.

Named for the U.S. Hall of Fame filly Princess Rooney, it has been a Grade I event since 2006.

Inaugurated in 1985, it was contested at a distance of seven furlongs until 1997 when it was modified to its present six furlongs.

Part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge series, the winner of the 2009 Princess Rooney Handicap automatically qualifies for the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint.[2]

This race was downgraded to a Grade II for its 2015 running.[3]
