History
Provident Precious Metals, LLC was founded in 2009 by Joseph Merrick. Providentmetals.com launched the same year, and the company began trading sovereign and privately minted bullion coins, bars and rounds, along with paper currency and numismatic coins online.
Provident Metals buys and sells most precious metal products available on the market, namely bars, coins and rounds. It sells United States Mint bullion, including gold, silver, platinum and palladium.
The online dealer also sells Royal Canadian Mint products, like gold, silver, platinum and palladium Maple Leaf coins, as well as South African Krugerrands, Austrian Philharmonics and a variety of Perth Mint bullion products.
Provident Metals sells bars and rounds from a variety of private mints, including its own Provident Mint, Golden State Mint, PAMP Suisse, OPM Metals, Engelhard, Credit Suisse, NTR Metals, Sunshine Minting and Johnson Matthey.
The company sells a variety of numismatic, storage, and collection supplies, like coin tubes and holders, monster boxes, loupes, safes, scales, testing kits, coin books and other accessories. Provident Metals also sells food storage kits and other survival goods.
Provident Metals is audited on an annual basis by the firm Plante Moran.
Zombucks
Provident Metals is known for their private mint's Zombucks series of coins. Coins in the series have zombie and apocalypse themes.[1]
NASCAR sponsorship and cryptocurrencies
In 2014 Provident Metals announced that they had entered into a partnership with Phil Parsons Racing. The company became the primary sponsor for Josh Wise, driver of the No. 98 car, during the 2014 Sprint Cup Series.[2]
Provident Metals announced in July 2014 that they would begin accepting cryptocurrencies Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin. In a release, company COO Jake Haugen stated that this decision was made in response to requests from the Dogecoin community, which began after the two became co-sponsors of NASCAR driver Josh Wise.[3]
