Panama is divided into ten provinces (Spanish: provincias). There are three provincial-level indigenous regions (Spanish: comarcas indígenas, often foreshortened to comarcas).

There are two indigenous comarcas within provinces that are considered equivalent to a corregimiento (municipality).
