The smallscale redfin (Pseudobarbus asper) is a freshwater fish in the family Cyprinidae. It grows to around 12 cm and is endemic to Southern Africa where it is found in slow flowing pools with rocky bottoms. It is threatened by habitat destruction and the impact of invasive species.

Smallscale redfins are generally found in medium-sized shoals. They breed during summer when they move into faster water to deposit their eggs.
