Puar Rajputs

Puar / Panwar / Parmar is a clan of Chandravanshi Rajputs later included in the Agnivansha. The Agnivansha myth was introduced in 16th century. It is evident that Puars were dispersed after Malwa was sacked in 1305 A.D. The Puars who were in contact with other Rajputs of Rajputana became Agnivanshi in 16th century and others who retained their Chandravanshi status were not in contact from 1400 A.D. to 1900 A.D. and almost strictly live outside Rajputana e.g. The Maratha Puars of Dhar State,Waghale, Malthan ,Amdabad all these three places are near Pune and Dewas State (Junior & Senior), also Chattarpur, Rajgarh rulers (came in frontline Maratha Confedration), Puar rulers of Uttarakhand, Puar rulers of the Punjab region.[1]

The Paramara dynasty that ruled Malwa belonged to this clan. The ruling dynasty of the Narsinghgarh State also belonged to this clan. The Maratha Puar rulers of Dhar State and Dewas State also claimed descent from the Parmar Rajputs.[2]
