Media conglomerate Times of India has partnered with Pursuitist to launch Pursuitist India, a localized version of the luxury lifestyle website.[3][4]
The Pursuitist Platinum symbol is awarded to elite luxury destinations, products and styles.[5]
History
Pursuitist was founded by luxury marketing executive and speaker Christopher Parr in 2011.[6] Parr has had prior experience in the luxury industry, having worked in the industry for the last 20 years.[7] The idea to start Pursuitist came to Parr when he was searching for a luxury news website, but could find a single and consistent source. He then launched Pursuitist as a destination site that curates the good things in life, featuring elite luxury destinations, products and styles.[8][9]
Parr has consulted with numerous luxury brands, including Sub-Zero and Wolf,[10] Ritz-Carlton and Marc Jacobs[11] With his luxury editorial reviews and videos, Parr has been named one of the “Top 10 Luxury Travel Bloggers”,[12] one of the “6 Coolest Men In Fashion”,[13] and has been interviewed by the New York Times, Elle Magazine and other publications.[14][15]
The site attracted growing interest after its initial launch in July 2011 and is now cited as one of the most popular luxury news websites by the media. Parr worked on building a sizable readership with a strategy that drives traffic to the site through social media channels.[16]
According to a news published in 2014, the company claims to have 310,000 unique visitors a month and relies largely on posts from leading journalists and luxury bloggers.
Business model
Pursuitist primary business model is based on product advertising with luxury brands including Bentley, Burberry, Johnnie Walker, BMW, Ritz-Carlton, Chase Bank, Delta Private Jets, Coach, Broadmoor Hotel, Rolls-Royce, Hermes, Audemars Piguet, Cosmopolitan Hotel and Effen Vodka.[17]
