Qarwakancha (Quechua qarwa yellowish / golden / pale / leaf worm, larva of a beetle, kancha enclosure, enclosed place, yard, a frame, or wall that encloses,[2][3] hispanicized spelling Carhuascancha) is a mountain in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru whose summit reaches about 5,500 metres (18,045 ft) above sea level. It is situated in the Ancash Region, Huari Province, Huantar District, and in the Huaraz Province, Huaraz District. Qarwakancha lies north-west of the peaks of Wantsan.[1][4]
The Qarwakancha valley is one of the tourist attractions of the Ancash Region. It is dominated by the Qarwakancha River (Carhuascancha, Carhuazcancha) which originates east of the mountain and flows eastwards.[1] There are also numerous lakes along the valley, among them Hatun Qaqaqucha and Ichik Qaqaqucha.
