History

The company, formerly known as MOBIbucks Corporation, was founded in 2007 with a mission to develop a solution to provide cash-less transactions and safe, simple and secure financial services for anyone with a mobile phone number.

Quisk opened an office in Dubai, U.A.E. in early 2009 and by early 2010, Quisk and Hypercom were bringing mobile payments to restaurants there. In mid-2011, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), one of the largest banks in the U.A.E., launched the Quisk solution (called MOBI in country). Later in 2011, Quisk partnered with Advanced Integrated Systems (AIS) to develop the first mobile money and payments platform for the Caribbean. [1]

In April, 2012, Quisk and ADCB won the award for best Mobile Payment initiative for the first-of-its kind payment product for making purchases with a mobile phone number. [2] In late 2012, Steve Novak, who served as Chairman, became the C.E.O. of Quisk, Inc. Formerly, Novak was the Lead Independent Director at CyberSource Corporation, an ePayments processor, serving on CyberSource’s Board from the Company’s inception in December 1997 until its acquisition by Visa Inc. in 2010.

In 2013, Quisk and its Caribbean partner, AIS continued to make progress on their planned mobile money deployment in Jamaica. [3]

In 2014, Quisk completed the integration of the Middle East Payment Services (MEPS), a consortium of seven Arab banks providing payment services in the Middle East, to the Central Bank of Jordan. The company remains known as MOBIbucks FZ in the Middle East. [4]

In addition, Quisk developed the 2nd generation of its digital cash platform and was selected to demonstrate on-stage at the Finovate Spring event in San Jose, CA. [5]

The company continues to develop additional digital cash functionality, such as eCommerce, Bill Pay and Remittances, and is expanding its geographic scope into other regions of the world.
