Sri Brahdamba Dasa Raja Rajagopala Tondaiman Bahadur, popularly known as R. Rajagopala Tondaiman, is an Indian socialite and the present head of the royal house of Pudukkottai. He is married to Indian National Congress politician Charubala Tondaiman.

Early life

Rajagopala Tondaiman was born on October 7, 1958 to Prince Radhakrishna Tondaiman, the younger brother of Raja Rajagopala Tondaiman, and his wife, Mathusri Raja Srimathi Rani Remi Devi Rajammani Bayi Sahib. Rajagopala finished his schooling in Madras and dropped out of college. At an early age, was adopted by his uncle, Rajagopala Tondaiman as his successor.

Public life

Rajagopala Tondaiman became the titular Raja of Pudukkottai on the death of his uncle Rajagopala Tondaiman on 16 January 1997. The position is largely ceremonial and apart from heading some family-owned trusts, Rajagopala barely wields any authority.

Rajagopala is the President of the Pudukkottai Shooting Club and Vice President of the Tamil Nadu Shooting Association. He is also a member of the National Rifle Association of India and Convenor of the Movement for the Restoration of Vedic Wisdom.

Family

Rajagopala married Sarubala Rajammani Ayi Sahib in Tiruchirappalli in 1984. The couple have a son, R. Prithviraj Tondaiman and a daughter, Radha Niryani Devi Rajammani Bayi Sahib.
