R. V. Swaminathan

R. V. Swaminathan was an Indian politician and former Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu and Member of Parliament elected from Tamil Nadu. He was a freedom fighter.

He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Madurai constituency as an Indian National Congress candidate in 1971, and 1977 elections.in1980 he was elected from Sivaganga (Lok Sabha constituency)[1][2][3]

He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly from Sivaganga constituency as an Indian National Congress candidate in 1952 and 1962 elections.[4][5] He was also elected Tamil Nadu legislative assembly from sivaganga as an Indian national congress candidate in 1967

He was three term TNCC PRISEDENT from 1967,1971,1977.

He was closely associated with Mahatma gandhiji. when mahatma gandhiji toured Tamil Nadu.in 1933-34 he stayed twice in his house in paganeri village.he was instrumental in bring a private bill along with K.T.kosalram which facilitated in removal of DEVAR COMMUNITY from DENOTIFIED list.he was popularly known as R.V.S.
