History
Legal structure
Through a 1999 partnership with H&R Block, McGladrey operated under two separate legal entities:
- McGladrey & Pullen, LLP
- RSM McGladrey, Inc.
McGladrey & Pullen operated under the traditional partnership structure as most accounting firms, specializing in audit and attest services. RSM McGladrey was established under the partnership agreement with H&R Block to provide tax and advisory services under an alternative practice structure.
In August 2011, H&R Block announced it was ending its partnership and divesting RSM McGladrey to McGladrey & Pullen, reuniting the firms in a traditional partnership structure. McGladrey & Pullen acquired all employees, assets, and infrastructure from RSM McGladrey. The deal closed on December 1, 2011.
In May 2012, McGladrey & Pullen officially changed its name to McGladrey LLP. The change took effect at the start of the new fiscal year, May 1.
In July 2012, McGladrey changed its headquarters from Bloomington, Minnesota to Chicago.[2]
On October 26, 2015 McGladrey LLP changed its name to RSM US. The name change creates a more cohesive global brand with their RSM International(RSMi) network.[3]
Firm accolades
In 2011, McGladrey was named for the fourth year as one of the Best Places to Launch a Career by BusinessWeek, primarily because of its flexible work environment initiatives and comprehensive training program.[4]
In 2012, McGladrey was named to Working Mother’s Top 100 Companies list for the sixth consecutive year. The firm was listed as a "pacesetter in growth" as a part of the 2008 Accounting Today Top 100 firm rankings, ranking fifth in revenue growth.
In 2013, for its eighth consecutive year, McGladrey was ranked fifth by Accounting Today on their list of Top 100 firms.[5] The publication also ranked McGladrey No. 5 on the list of "Leaders in A&A" and "Leaders in Tax." McGladrey has also been ranked No. 2 in "Pacesetters in Growth" list, which was determined by percent change in revenue.
Team RSM
RSM US sponsors three professional golfers: PGA Tour professionals Zach Johnson, Chris DiMarco and Davis Love III.[6] It also sponsors a PGA Tour event, the RSM Classic.
