Musical career
Shay has played in several bands starting with Shok L'amour in 1992 and then Synical. In 1997, he joined the Genitorturers.[2] During his time in the Genitorturers, Shay joined Grim Faeries guitarist Mikee Plastik (current collaborator with Pete Jones of PIL) in a side punk project The Infamous Plastic People, doing a handful of dates with Melt Banana, Marky Ramone, and Fear. In 2001 Racci left the Genitorturers[2] (replaced by Angel) to join the industrial group Dope.[3] He stayed with Dope until 2005 (replaced by Daniel Fox) when he quit. He then joined Wednesday 13's new band along with fellow Synical member Eric Griffin. He later parted with Wednesday 13 due to personal issues. Shay stated in a recent interview with Joey Jordison he is the new drummer for Murderdolls. Since joining Murderdolls, Shay has performed on Stateside and International tours and/or festivals with several major artists, such as Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Guns N' Roses, Queens of the Stone Age, Slash, Primus, Slayer, and Iron Maiden.
Since he was with Dope, Shay has played Pearl drums, commonly with a two bass drum configuration. He used to play with Alchemy cymbals but currently uses Zildjian. His most recent configuration is unique in that he uses three floor toms arranged in the fashion of traditional toms. To facilitate this he uses a left-footed double pedal to position his bass drum by his hi-hat, enabling him to continue playing right-footed. He also uses Vic Firth Metal sticks.
