Rachana Narayanankutty is an actress, Kuchipudi dancer, performer, and television anchor from Kerala, India.[2] She became popular through the television series Marimaayam.[3][4]
Personal life
Rachana was born on April 4, 1983 in Thrissur City to Narayanankutty and Narayani. She is the youngest and has a brother.[5] Rachana completed her schooling from GGHS Wadakanchery in 1998, and she completed her graduation from Sri Vyasa NSS College, Wadakanchery.[6] She was a Communicative English teacher in Devamatha, a CBSE School situated in Thrissur district. She took dance classes before she was cast into the television series.
She married in February 2011, and filed for divorce in family court on 14 March 2011.[1]
Career
She began her career in 2001 by acting in a small role as the heroine's friend in the film Theerthadanam.[7] Though it was a small role, Rachana considers it as a gratifying experience to have begun her career through a film scripted by M. T. Vasudevan Nair. After her studies, she joined radio as an RJ, at Radio Mango Thrissur, where a producer spotted her and cast her in Marimayam. Rachana had only intended to act in a single episode of Marimayam, but was taken aback by the overwhelming response her character got, and decided to continue.
She hosted a comedy show in Mazhavil Manorama called Comedy Festival. She has also acted in few advertisements and judged a reality show named Comedy Express on Asianet. She is currently participating in a popular reality show titled Star Challenge on Flowers TV.
