Rachel Rhodes (レイチェル・ローズ Reicheru Rōzu), also known as Rei Yasuda (安田 レイ Yasuda Rei), born April 15, 1993 in North Carolina, United States, is a model and singer of Japanese and Caucasian descent.
Rhodes achieved early fame as the image model and vocalist for the band Genki Rockets. In 2013, she made her solo debut as a singer with "Best of My Love."
Biography
Early life
Rhodes was born in North Carolina, United States, but moved to Japan at the age of 3. When she was 10 years old, she was inspired to become a singer after hearing her mother listening to a song by Utada Hikaru.[1] She is fluent in both Japanese and English.[2]
Genki Rockets
Rhodes auditioned for Genki Rockets at the age of 13 and became the image model and provided part of the vocals for the fictional frontman of the band, Lumi, who was written as a fictional 18-year-old woman born on September 11, 2019 as the first human being born in outer space.[1] Rhodes appears as Lumi in the 2011 video game Child of Eden.
Solo debut
In 2013, Rhodes made her solo debut under Sony Records under the name Rei Yasuda,[3] debuting with "Best of My Love." The leading song was produced by Kenji Tamai and served as the ending theme to Space Battleship Yamato 2199.
Another one of her singles is "Mirror" which was released on September 3, 2014. The song is used as an ending theme for The Irregular at Magic High School.
