Rachid Hamdani (Arabic: رشيد حمداني; born 8 April 1985) is a Moroccan footballer who plays as a midfielder for Asteras Tripoli. He also holds French citizenship.

Club Career

He started his career in France playing mainly in two clubs Nancy and Clermont till the summer of 2011.

Apollon Limassol midfielder Rachid Hamdani looks set for a move to Greece in the summer following media reports that the Moroccan will join Asteras Tripoli next season. According to reports in Balla.com.cy and sport24.gr, Asteras Tripoli confirmed that Hamdani is one of their summer targets “although nothing has been signed”. The Moroccan joined Apollon Limassol in 2011 and has a been a key figure for the side that won the 2012–13 Cup and also went on to secure back-to-back appearances in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League. Hamdani’s exit is expected to be confirmed in the summer.

Apollon Limassol did not get the Hamdani last season, finish they were hoping for but they at least signed off with a victory after a 2-1 success at home to fourth place Omonia. Rachid Hamdani won the last game for Apollon Limassol 2014-15 season, in the 77th minute after beating the offside trap to curl a brilliant effort into the onrushing Giorgos Panagi’s left hand corner. It was the Moroccan’s parting gift for the Limassol club after previously announcing that he had agreed to sign for Greek Super League side Asteras Tripoli in the summer.[1]

The former Nancy and Clermont player – who also holds French citizenship – has seen his appearances in the starting line-up slimmed down in the last couple of months in favour of other players like Camel Meriem and Luka Stojanovic.[2] Eventually, on 17 June 2015, he signs a two years' contract with Asteras Tripoli as a free transfer for an undisclosed fee.[3]
