Rafael Freire Luz (born February 11, 1992), also called as Rafa Luz, is a Brazilian-Spanish professional basketball player. He is a point guard, and currently plays for Flamengo of the NBB.[1]
Biography
Rafael Luz is a Brazilian-Spanish guard, brother of several international players for their country, with just 15 he was summoned by the U-18 in Brazil. The June 26, 2009 the player was nationalized Spanish and in October of the same year, the Brazilian Basketball Federation sent the necessary transfer available for the player to act as selectable both in the Spanish and in the Liga ACB. Highlighting at the start of the season 2010/11 in the ranks of Unicaja Malaga, his role was reduced to the point of becoming a regular member of the team linked to the LEB Oro, Rincon Axarquia Clinics. In March 2011 confirming their assignment until end of season at CB Granada, club he ends the season with numbers of 4.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per choque.
In August 2011, CB Lucentum Alicante and Unicaja reach an agreement for the player to leave the club on loan back east for a while. In Alicante, Freire signed some numbers of 5.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
In August 2012 after their assignment in Lucentum Alicante, the player happens to belong to Blusens Monbuns with an existing contract a year duración. Rafa Luz greatly pleased the team and coaching staff of Blusens to write down averages of 3.4 points, 1.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists in 17 minutes he was in court for departure, signing its renewal with Galician team for another season.[2]
Brazilian national team
Rafa Luz participated in the national team that won the runner-up of 2011 FIBA Americas Championship in Mar del Plata, Argentina, which ranked Brazil for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Great-Britain.
In 2013, Luz was summoned again to the team led by Rubén Magnano for the initial training to 2013 FIBA Americas Championship.
