Rajiv Gupta is a former General Manager at Hewlett Packard, where he reported to Carly Fiorina. He was co-inventor and general manager of Hewlett Packard's E-speak project in 1999, and was one of the developers of the IA-64 architecture.[1] Gupta is today popularly known as the father of Web Services and SOA.[2][3]
Early life
Gupta is an IIT Kharagpur alumnus. He received his Ph.D. in compiler optimization from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in less than a year.[2] He married a British woman, Debra and they have two children - Veda and Anya.[4] He currently resides in Los Altos.[2]
Career
Gupta founded Confluent Software (now owned by Oracle Corporation), developing what became the CoreSV product. He also founded Securent (now owned by Cisco) and supports Bodhtree Consulting Ltd (based in Hyderabad) as a technology adviser. In 2011 he founded Skyhigh Networks.[5] He currently holds more than 45 patents in his credit.[2]
