He completed his piano studies cum laude in 2002, and was admitted to The Provision for Outstanding Musicians, a special course offered in addition to the standard curriculum. He also graduated cum laude in musicology. Ralph van Raat has recorded a number of CDs as an exclusive artist for the Naxos label. All of his recordings have been of contemporary or 20th-century composers, such as John Adams, Hans Otte, Arvo Pärt, Gavin Bryars and Frederic Rzewski. Before recording with Naxos, Van Raat also recorded discs with the Etcetera Records, Attacca, and Erasmus labels. Van Raat is a Steinway artist.[1]

In April 2015 Ralph van Raat played Dennis Johnson's 5 hour minimalist masterpiece November through the night from 2am to 7am at Amsterdam's Muziekgebouw. Against a blue-lit backdrop and surrounded by dozy minimalist lovers on beanbags, van Raat shared with us a transcendental experience that we'll remember for the rest of our lives.
