Ramzan Sugar Mills (Urdu: رمضان شوگر ملز) was established by late Mian Muhammad Sharif in 1991. Ramzan Sugar Mills is one of the mills leading Refined Sugar Manufacturing Plants in Pakistan.[1] It is located on the bank of Chenab River on Jhang-Chiniot road, in Bhawana 63 km from Jhang. It is working under the Sharif Group.[2]

In February 2011, CarboUA tested the plant of Ramzan Sugar Mills and conducted the successful result in March.[3]

Power project

In September 2012, NEPRA signed on an Co-Generation Power Project agreement with the mill to produce the power with the capacity of 100 megawatt under the name of Ramzan Energy Ltd.[4][5] The power will be generated by industrial waste bagasse of sugar-canes.[4]

Critical responses

After 2014 floods hit Jhang, politician Imran Khan criticized the mill and bridge (under-construction in Bhawana) while addressing in Jhang that Sharif group were only constructing the bridge to save their mill not people. Where farmers had complained that the mill only pay them 70 percent of offered price for sugar-canes, and that also after a year.[6]
