Ranikuthi

Ranikuthi is a southern sub-urban area in Kolkata. The name came up as Rani (queen) used to have her "kuthi" (house) here. Now the heritage building is under Calcutta Telephone. This area is largely inhabited by students who mostly come from East and North-East India on a periodical basis for pursuing better education and lifestyle. The number of students spread around Ranikuthi accounts for more than 20% of the total students who come to Kolkata every year. It is surrounded by Malancha and Netaji Nagar.It too sports an artificial pond near the Telephone Exchange Office.
