Raphael Miranda
Raphael Miranda (born April 26, 1977) is a meteorologist and weather producer at WNBC in New York City. Miranda serves as a weatherman for Weekend Today in New York, a primary fill-in meteorogist for the weekday newscasts and serves as the host of the Megaphone Interactive Trivia of Saturday Today in New York.
Early life
Miranda was born in Bedford Hills, New York and graduated from New York University with a B.A. degree in Spanish, with a Concentration in Latin American Literature, and a B.S. degree in Broadcast Journalism from Brooklyn College. Additionally, he earned a Geosciences/Meteorology degree from Mississippi State University.
Career
Raphael started as a weather intern at WNBC in 2007. Since then he has appeared on National and Local networks like MSNBC, CNBC World, News 12 Westchester and now-defunct NBC Weather Plus. He was also an occasional meteorologist for Early Today until Weather Plus shut down in December 2008. Since 2009, he serves as weatherman of Weekend Today in New York, following the departure of SallyAnn Mosey in 2008 and he also serves as a host of the MegaPhone Interactive Trivia from 2014 onwards since Kaitlin Monte left for WPIX as a traffic reporter for the morning newscast in June of that year.
Awards and Honors
Miranda won a 2011 Emmy Award for Weather coverage of Hurricane Irene. He is a member of organizations including AMS, National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) and National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), and he holds the NWA seal of approval.
Personal life
Miranda and his husband[1] live in New Jersey.
