Ratas Del Vaticano is a punk rock band from Monterrey, Mexico.

History

Ratas del Vaticano[1] was formed somewhere around 2008 with Joaquín, Dave and Dani Ashura as their original lineup. They started rehearsing and recording some demos, which would later turn into their debut LP Mocosos Pateticos released by the Philadelphia based label, Siltbreeze.

Just before their first LP release, Dani Ashura had to quit the band, Rafael replaced him on drums, by Dani's personal request. Their first LP was soon released. After quite a while playing in Monterrey, and others cities in Mexico their label invited them to showcase at the Austin, Texas based festival, SXSW. This was their first time playing on the US.

Shortly after this festival, the band planned a tour, through all the US West Coast, playing in cities like San Diego, Los Angeles, Pasadena, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. Sharing stages with Quintron, Hank IV, Eat Skull, Christmas Island and Organized Sports, among other bands.

They released their first 7" EP called Chido EP, through the San Diego based label Volar Records in 2008. Shortly after this they began recording their second LP album, Tiempos De Austeridad, which was released through the Chicago, IL based label, Captcha Records.

The band has finished recording for a double 7" album on Oakland label Bat Shit Records
