Plot summary

Quiet Hunter (Thistle-Chaser's mate) asks Ratha and the named if they can set up small fires to warm the young. But when the Named turn their backs for a couple minutes, Night-who-eats-stars(Ratha's son) steals the red tongue. Once under control of the red tongue, Night-who-eats-stars sets a canyon on fire, killing many of his tribe (including the majority of the females). When the mating season comes, True-of-voice ends up driving out the young males from his tribe. New-singer (True-of-voice's son) takes over the outcasts, and attacks the named. New-singers tribe kills the majority of the cubs and kidnaps the named femals to mate with. Ratha was the only named female to not get captured. Ratha decides to go see if she can rescue the females, but ends up in captivity herself. Once all the females were in heat, New-singers tribe starts a courting circle. Mishanti and Bundi end up scaring the males away with their "Rumblers".
