Ratikant Mohapatra is a dancer, percussionist, Guru, and Choreographer of Odissi. Under the direction and choreography of Ratikant Mohapatra, 555 Odissi dancers, a large number of them belonging to foreign countries, performed in unison at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar to enter their names in the Guinness Book of World Records.[1][2] Odissi Dance entered into Ind-Chinese Movie The Desire under the choreography of Guru Ratikant Mohapatra.[3]

Early life

He was born into Guru Padma Vibhushan Kelucharan Mohapatra and Mrs. Laxmipriya Mohapatra on 24 December 1965.[4] He improvised on his own natural talents and inclination towards dance and music at an early age. Trained by the Maestro in the art of Odissi and Pakhawaj, Ratikant did not spare any efforts to emerge as a leading male dancer and distinguished choreographer by the time he was in his early twenties. Guru Ratikant Mohapatra is married to Sujata Mohapatra[5] who is a dancer and Odissi exponent. He has a daughter, Preetisha Mohapatra with her.
