Ravi Hutheesing is a keynote speaker, cultural diplomat for the US Department of State, singer-songwriter, former guitarist for the band Hanson,[1][2] writer,[2] and pilot[2] who works under the brand names "Ravi" and "The Raviator." He is also a member of the Nehru-Gandhi family.
He is the grand nephew of Jawaharlal Nehru[3] (India's first Prime Minister)[4] and Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit (first woman president of the United Nations' General Assembly),[5] and youngest son of Ajit Hutheesing, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of International Capital Partners Inc.
Career
Ravi was a guitarist for Hanson (Mercury/Polygram) in 1997 when they reached #1 on the Billboard Charts and were nominated for three Grammy awards. They appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, Saturday Night Live, Good Morning America, Today, and several other national television shows, and also performed at Madison Square Garden and a White House Christmas party.[6]
Ravi works in multiple industries as a keynote speaker and singer-songwriter. He has performed with his own band at the Louisiana Superdome and multiple festivals around the country, and has released two CDs entitled "Beyond the Blur" and "Ravi." Berklee College of Music, National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, University of North Dakota, Western Michigan University, EAA AirVenture, Sun 'n' Fun, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), and others have hosted his lectures. Electronic Musician, Music Inc., Music & Sound Retailer, Musician, On Stage, and Flight Training magazines have published his articles. Simon and Schuster published Ravi's tour journal, "Dancin with Hanson" in 1999. This millennium, Samick Music Corporation hired him to be the national electric guitar clinician for Greg Bennett Guitars, and he represents Cessna Aircraft Company and Sennheiser Electronic Corporation through aviation lectures. Additionally, Ravi holds professional endorsement deals in music with Martin Guitars, Voyage-Air Guitars, Brian Moore Guitars, Greg Bennett Guitars, Digitech, Gibson, Graph Tech, Levy's Leathers, Kustom Amplification, Sennheiser, Seymour Duncan, and Yamaha; and in aviation with Sennheiser Headsets, BrightLine Bags, and Vedalo HD Eyewear. Ravi also partners with the Shanti Bhavan Children's Project in Tamil Nadu India, and is working with The George Foundation to spearhead the creation of more schools for the poorest of the poor ("untouchables" caste).[2]
Most recently, The Embassy of the United States, Russia, invited Ravi to be a Cultural Speaker to promote US-Russia cultural ties and mutual understanding through cultural exchange. He gives keynote presentations on Entrepreneurship and Artist-Entrepreneurship, as well as Singer/Songwriter workshops. Universities, business schools, cultural centers, and other institutions host his presentations for varied audiences of students, professionals, and the general public.
