Ravi Shukla (born November 4, 1983 in Kolkata, West Bengal) is an Indian singer. He was the winner of the popular Indian television singing competition, Star Voice of India.[1] He was also a participant of the first seasons of Indian Idol and Star Voice of India.

Biography

Ravi was born to Radhey Shyam Shukla and Santosh Shukla in Kolkata, West Bengal. His father is a businessman and his mother is a homemaker. He has four older, married sisters in Rajasthan. Ravi attended Don Bosco High & Technical School, Liluah and graduated from St Xavier's College, as a student of the University of Calcutta.

Music career

In 2004, Ravi was selected in the show, Indian Idol, in its first season. Though he did not win, it was a notable turning point in his career. From then on this talented singer continued to progress.

He started taking singing lessons from Pandit Jayanto Bose in June 2005. A year later, he went on a tour to the US for seven months and performed in many big cities. He also learned music at the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa Academy in Mumbai.

He was a contestant in the first season of the show, Star Voice of India. However, a major breakthrough came in the second season of the show, which he won. Ravi Shukla was crowned the winner of Amul Star Voice of India 2 Winner on December 21, 2008, the runner-up was Saptaparna Chakraborty. He was awarded a new car with a cheque for Rs 2.5 million. In addition, he was given a contract with T-Series to launch his first album.
