Ray Fisher is an American stage actor, best known for his roles in the comedy The Good, the Bad and the Confused. Ray was discovered after playing Muhammad Ali in Will Power's Fetch Clay Make Man in 2013, and for playing Victor Stone / Cyborg in the DC Extended Universe.
Early life
Fisher grew up in Lawnside, New Jersey and attended Haddon Heights High School.[2] It was there that he was introduced to theatre by his high school English teacher. He was active in the school's theatre and choir program and sang in his church's choir.[3]
After high school, Fisher attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York.[3]
Stage work
Since 2008, Fisher has performed with Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, including a starring role as Tom Robinson in the theater's production of To Kill a Mockingbird.[3]
In 2009, Fisher acted in William Shakespeare's play, Macbeth, at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in Madison, New Jersey at Drew University.[4] Fisher had to gain 20 pounds of muscle in order to portray Muhammad Ali in the 2013 Off-Broadway production of Fetch Clay, Make Man at the New York Theatre Workshop in New York City.[4]
Film career
Fisher portrayed the superhero Victor Stone / Cyborg in the film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.[5] He is expected to reprise his role in Justice League films. On October 15, 2014, it was announced that Fisher will reprise the role in his own solo Cyborg film in 2020.[6] On getting cast, "“I didn’t know the extent to which DC and WB had planned on taking my character. When I signed on, I just wanted to be part of this world. But that specific information, I found out then and there. I didn’t think I’d be getting my own stand-alone film. I’m a long-game player and didn’t see any of this happening until at least my 40's. It’s a huge honor, but a bit of pressure comes along with it. My mind is just boggled right now".[7]
