Reelworld is committed to showcasing stories that explore pressing issues, spark conversations and move audiences to take actions that impact their lives, communities and ultimately, the world.

The festival features a convergence of film, art, music, technology and conversation - bringing together today’s most original storytellers, thought leaders, nonprofit leaders, social entrepreneurs, philanthropists and innovators. Additional programming includes an industry forum, networking receptions, pitch sessions, panels, talks, student programs, a social venture fair, social impact games, live music performances, art exhibits and installations, scheduled conversations, live podcasts, book fairs, technology demonstrations, a hackathon and parties.

Spotlight

Spotlight is a highly interactive film series that shines a spotlight on timely and pressing issues happening in the world. Spotlight brings together hundreds of influencers, community leaders, students, artists, change agents, educators, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders to explore pressing issues, engage in meaningful conversation, collaborate, and get involved in creating solutions. Each event features a film screening, filmmaker Q&A, a panel discussion, and multiple booths and exhibits for non-profits and social enterprises to showcase their work. The Spotlight series launched during World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto with a screening of the award winning film, The True Cost, and was presented by filmmaker Andrew Morgan.

Impact Film Lab

The Impact Film Lab is a two-day intensive workshop for filmmakers with social impact film projects in development or production. The lab is designed to equip filmmakers with foundational knowledge around developing strategy and partnerships to execute an effective impact and outreach campaign. This year's lab included sessions from seasoned filmmakers including Liz Marshall, Ricardo Acosta and Lisa Valencia Svennsson. Each cohort is a selection of exceptional emerging talent from across Canada.
